Bengang

Bengang 1:
Wad St Mary khas for surgical elective admission. So, pandai2 la top-up the blood forms and Typenex! So I dont have to run upstairs to get em. Buang masa btol la. Pas tu nak aku buat keja cepat...kalau nak tolong amikkan takpe la. Ni, kalau mintak tolong mesti buat muka bedekkkk...
Bengang 2:
Aku dah GXM. Dah chartkan blood. Dah letak IVC. Dah call kompemkan blood dah ready. Dah kasi tau ko wahai macik nurse. Ko tinggal pesan porter pi amikkan darah kat blood bank jek. Tu pun ko tak leh buat????? Tak pasal2 patient tak dapat blood pre-op. Seb baik post-op Hb tak drop lagi teruk... kalo tak aku gak kene marah. Nanti ko gak yang pepandai isik incidental form komplen pasal aku...ngada ah korang ni!
Bengang 3:
Aku busy. Karang2 la aku wat discharge letter. Tup tup aku sampai, ko dah hurung patient tu kuar wad. Hek eleh, aku tak sempat nak buat surat, buat prescription, tak sempat nak cakap sat kat patient. Hah...ko bawakla dia pegi. Jangan bleep mintak macam2. Hah.... 30minit kendian, ko tepon, tanya macam2. "I told you not to let him go. If you want his letter and everything, bring his chart back to the ward...I'm not going there." Hah...padan muke ko nurse!
Bengang 4:
IVC no 1 dislodged. IVC no 2 dislodged lagi. Pesan kat nurse, sile la letak dressing over IVC. Patient dah sound aku dah, kata tanak IVC lagi. Ko kata iye, iye nanti saya buat cik doktor. Tak pasal2 30 minit kendian, ko bleep lagi, "Mr X's cannula dislodged again." "Didnt I asked you to put a dressing over it?" "Oh, the other nurse must've forgot to let me know." "This is the 3rd time I placed a cannula on him. Make sure you put a dressing over it this time, OK" "Oh, you can do the dressing yourself." MAK AIH....ko yang nurse ke aku yang nurse???
Bengang 5:
Ni universal punyer bengang. Bleep aku. Pas tu bila aku jawab bleep, samada takde orang angkat fon, ataupun lambat. Pastu bleep lagi.... Gile apa?? Prank bleep apa korang ni???
Bengang 6:
Orang sibuk2 buat keje. Ko lepak ramai2 makan lunch kat ofis sambil borak2 pasal cuti. Bila nak kasik tau something, "I'm not looking after her. The nurse must be on lunch break." Ok, fine. Bila aku on my lunch break or intern teaching...terkecoh2 la bleep aku..." Sorry, I'm in the middle of teaching". Lepas kol 2, baru bley layan korang....
Bengang 7:
Suruh aku chart kan something. Bila aku pi carik drug chart...ntah ke mana2 la hilangnya.
Bengang 8:
Masa ward round tanak follow. Dah habis ward round baru kecoh2 nak tanya macam2!
Bengang 9:
Bleep aku kol 7pm. Suruh kasik bolus heparin. Ko cakap intern tu dah chart tapi tak kasik lagi. Kol brapa dia chartkan heparin? Kol 2pm tadi.... La, pesal tak bleep intern tu kol 2 or 3 or 4 or
....??? Napa after 6 baru nak call aku??
Bengang 10:
Tak abis2 suruh chart IV fluid. Patient tak fasting, bukannya sakit teruk, bukan hemiplegic, bukan diabetic, bukan comatose, bukan post CT contrast... Kasik makan la.. Pehal malas sangat nurse ni??

Bak kater RDuignan (idola aku): "Oh I know Marisa. The nurses are sooo busy all the time. They have 3 most important jobs to do all day. Do the obs, give meds and ask each others who's on first or second break..."

Future-O-rama.

OK, this is the turning point where you seriously need to think what to do with your life. You're no longer a 5th or final year student, where when anyone asked you, you can just put the thought aside and concentrate on exams and stuff. This is the dreadful time.
You have to THINK what you gonna do for the next 40,50 years of your life. God bless if I live that long. Are you staying, or are you heading home for good? If you are staying, what's the plan??
I doubt that I'm going to get the medical scheme. So here's my plan.
Plan 1. Stay here for another 6 months as an medical SHO and sit for MRCPI. If I succeed, I'll apply for another SHO job.
Plan 2. Go home, try to get into either Unimas or UITM.
Plan 3. Go home, work in a gov hospital. Pay my own MRCP exam. If the time comes for MRCP II, then I'll use my own money to fly back to Ireland.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to that SPA interview in April Aida was talking about the other day. Am not going to waste my time menganggur bila balik Msia nanti. As much as I love holidays and those sort of thing, I cant see myself sitting around doing nothing.
I dont know why am I so weak. I should be able to stay here in Ireland for another 3,4 years. I'm not that severely homesick. That's why phone and airplane exist. You miss them, call them. Cant bear it? Go home for few weeks and come back again... Anyway, I'm very ambitious, although most of the time, I dont look like one. Well, since I started working, people saw me either stressed, tired or 'malas nak layan orang'. Hahaha. Crap. All three are true.
I'm leaning towards going home. Again, not because I'm homesick or sick of Ireland ahaha. Amanah is a heavy word to carry around. Get over and done with. Balik keje kat Msia la, berkhidmat untuk negara. Although the pay is crap and the health system is double crap. After all, dont bother to think about the downside of it.... Plan changes kan? Whats bad for you might be good in some other way, kan?
Ok la. Tido la. Need to survive my fourth week of being vascular intern. I love the job, but the job aint teaching me much. Which is crap. And working in a teaching hospital will be pretty crap if you cant teach others because you yourself dont learn much.
Ciao. Peace.

hey girl

The fat girl who wants to become thin.
The medium-size girl who thinks she's thin.
The thin girl who struggled to stay thin.

Hmm.

I'm medium size girl, who wants to become thin, but at the same time I think I'm thin enough and thus struggled to keep my own size.

Now...that's healthy babeh!

Currently high on junk food, take aways, caffeine and instant meals :) My dearie liver is going to scream and scringe with all these additives and colouring and preservatives thing I'm dumping her with! Nyeheheh!!!

New team

Haloooooooo!
New job with Mr Courtney starts off well. I got great Reg's and SHO. Well, I think Ali may have some preferences with Molly over me..but thats OK. At least I know Myles is fair.
I met the bos (The Don) yesterday. He was nice and friendly. Maybe too early to judge, since we have only 8 patients...none of them are critically or seriously ill patient. And he just came back from a nice Xmas hols.. (and he's going for skiing holiday in two weeks time. HOORAY!!)
But him going will be bad news for us for the next two weeks. The reason being..he has to do all his surgery before he goes on holiday. And we're on take for 3 days next week! Arghhh!! Expect 20-30 patients , man!!!
Anyway, I'm oncall tomorrow, and I'm in panic! This new hospital's cannula is so rigid that it's so hard to put it in. I MISS BALLINASLOE!!
And people in Ballinasloe miss me! Got a text from my ex-SHO, how they miss the previous interns..oh..so shweet!
Ok la..need to go to sleep. 'Life' starts at 7.30am..so, imagine how I felt early morning. Hungry, sleepy, cold and damn tired. BUT NOT CRANKY. I just love being a doc!
PS: A colleague is a colleague. Despite history. OK Nina?

2008

Lets commemorate 2007.

Its truly has been a very tiring and yet exciting year.

Final exam. Graduating med school. First paid (taxed) job. And finally it all ends well. Yup, I got a great recommendation letter from Dr Clarke.

I hope 2008 will be as nice as 2007. It will be a harder year to cope. Tougher people and all new challenges. And I hope I'll sail through it smoothly..maybe a bit bumpy.

Alhamdulillah. I managed to survive 2007. God has given me tremendous strength and will to go on. And God has given me lots of blessings and shown me love in harder times. Thanks.

Happy New Year.

xxooxx.

Kite tengok saper yang menang!!!!
